Business Anatomy 101
Strategy can be hard to visualize, but structures are more diagrammable.
I’ve been reading a lot about strategy and business models lately, and for weeks was doodling and sketching what turned out to be something like an anatomical drawing of a business. It occurred to me that seeing a visual representation of the structures and resource flows in a business can help push forward strategic ideas, which is a slightly different approach from diagramming the strategic concepts themselves. So I forged ahead with my diagram and had it animated, and I think it’s ready to share.
The resource flows in my diagram — money, information, product/service, etc. — are common to all successful ventures. By understanding these structures and flows, you’ll be better positioned to develop plans and strategies to keep the flows going.
